Ricky Hatton’s son reacts to Oasis’ Wembley Stadium tribute to late boxing legend

Ricky Hatton’s son has reacted to Oasis’ touching tribute to his late father at their Wembley Stadium concerts.

The legendary boxer was a “die-hard” fan of the Britpop band and became close pals with Liam and Noel Gallagher.

Following the tragic news of his passing at the age of 46 last month, Oasis dedicated Live Forever from their 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe to Hatton at their pair of Wembley gigs on September 27 and 28, with an image of The Hitman projected onto the stage screen.

His 24-year-old son, Campbell, told ITV News of the outpouring of love for his father: “I couldn’t ask for any more and the support we’ve had from everyone has been unbelievable.”

The boxer was a devoted Oasis fan and famously had Liam and Noel Gallagher walk him to the ring in Las Vegas for his 2008 bout against Paulie Malignaggi, even entrusting them to carry his championship belts.

Hatton once declared his childhood dreams were to become “a world champion, support Manchester City, and listen to Oasis”.

He said: “Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be a boxing world champion, support [UK soccer team] Man City and listen to Oasis.

“But I became a four-time world champion in two weight classes, ended up boxing at the Etihad Stadium in front of 55,000 people, and became mates with Noel and Liam Gallagher over the years.”

In 2025, he was among the first to witness the band’s long-awaited reunion in Cardiff on July 4, before attending multiple shows on the UK leg of the Oasis Live ’25 Tour, and even celebrating backstage with Noel Gallagher. Just weeks before his passing, Hatton was filmed belting out Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back in Anger at a Tenerife bar.

Following the tragic news of his passing on September 14, Liam posted to X: “Absolutely devastated to hear the news about RICKY HATTON it was an absolute honour to know him and carry his belts RIP CHAMP LIVE FOREVER LG x.”

Noel has also spoken fondly of the time he spent with Hatton, telling talkSPORT: “It is such a shame because he is a great Mancunian, and a lovely, lovely lad; he was one of us.”

Hatton was also survived by his daughters, Millie and Fearne Grace, and granddaughter Lyla.
