‘It really was a special moment…’ Five member Scott Robinson reveals inspiration behind reunion tour

Five re-connected as friends first before deciding to reunite for a tour.

On Thursday (27.02.25), the group – comprised of Abz Love, Jason “J” Brown, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon – announced they were back together and heading out on the ‘Keep On Movin’ Tour’ in late 2025.

The band have performed as a four piece and with three of their original members following the band’s break-up, but all five members have not been on stage together since they split in 2001.

Scott, 45, was the catalyst behind the reunion, and it began with all five guys spending a weekend together in an Airbnb rental and repairing their friendships.

Speaking at a press conference announcing the tour at The Standard hotel in London, Scott said: “The whole idea was just to meet up as friends, and then see where that will take us. The second we saw each other, after a long time of not seeing each other, it was magical. I know that sounds like a cliché but it really was a special moment where we sat there and we spoke and we laughed and we cuddled.

“It was a real moment, and it was only then when we were like, ‘We could do something boys, couldn’t we?’ It’s been amazing and we’ve got an amazing team with us. Today has been so emotional and so special.”

Sean, 43, added that their meet-up was really special and the unique energy they all shared when they started out in 1997 quickly re-emerged.

Conlon said: “It’s been overwhelming, but there’s a normality to it, and it was like that when we first met back up. When we first met, when the guys first walked through the room, there was an appreciation that we didn’t have first time round in the ’90s for the special thing that we’ve all got as a collective. It’s not about any individual, it’s what we make as a band.

“We just felt really thankful for it, like, ‘Wow, there’s something really special here.’ There was like an energy. We hope that when we do the tour that it comes across.”

Now the boys have reunited, there is a clamour from fans for new music, but Scott insists the group are focused, for now, on putting on the best concerts possible, packed with their greatest hits, which include ‘If Ya Gettin’ Down’, ‘Keep On Movin” and ‘Everybody Get Up’

When asked if Five could record new music at the press conference – which was attended by BANG Showbiz – Robinson said: “For now, what we want to concentrate on is giving the fans what they deserve, and what we want to give them is all of the hits. We’re not thinking that far forward. We’re concentrating on the 12 dates and we’re obviously hoping that those are really well received and we do many more dates. There’s conversations happening already about adding dates and stuff.

“For us, now, it would be silly to try and think into the future, ‘What should we do?’ ‘Should we do a new album?’ Let’s concentrate on the shows, let’s get the dance moves right and smash it.”
