Melanie C: I feel super inspired by DJing

Melanie C feels “super inspired” by DJing.

The 51-year-old star is a fan of “so many genres of music” and Melanie has revealed that she’s now keen to fuse different types of music together.

During an appearance on ‘The Rebecca Judd Show’ on Apple Music 1, Melanie said: “I’m a pop artist, but I love my dance music.

“I love so many genres of music, but right now DJing, I’m super inspired by that and I really want to bring my work as a DJ and my solo work as an artist a bit closer together.”

Despite this, Melanie is still learning about DJing, acknowledging that it’s very “technical”.

The pop star – who shot to fame as a member of the Spice Girls in the 90s – also admitted that she feels more nervous DjJng than singing live.

She said: “I still feel really new to it and it’s technical.

“There are so many things that can go wrong and I’m still learning.

“I think with everything, you always continue to learn, but I feel so experienced as a singer in that sense, going out with a band and I’m in a different head space so if something goes wrong, I can kind of have a bit of a laugh about it. But if something goes wrong on the decks, I’m like, ‘Help! Loop Loop!'”

Melanie worked with a number of new artists while creating her latest solo album. And the singer has relished the experience of working with new talent on the record.

She explained: “I’ve been working with some female artists, Rose Gray, who’s a new artist who’s brilliant. We worked together with Uffie, who’s great. It’s so lovely to get more women on the record.”
