Cast confirmed to support Oasis on UK and Ireland leg of reunion tour

Oasis have confirmed Cast as an opening act for their upcoming reunion tour.

After John Power and co joined frontman Liam Gallagher on his ‘Definitely Maybe’ arena tour this summer and a recent report suggesting the fellow Britpop rockers would be joining the ‘Wonderwall group on their sold-out ‘Oasis Live ‘25’ tour next year, the rumour has been proven true, with Cast joining Richard Ashcroft on the UK and Ireland leg of the mammoth jaunt.

Frontman John, who guitarist Noel Gallagher once hailed “as cosmic as the day is long”, said: “I’m blown away at the reunion. Oasis are the voice of a generation and the songs that they wrote and sung were and still are the soundtrack to many people’s dreams. They are the people’s band.”

He continued: “I’ve known Noel and Liam all through the years, we go way back. It’s been some ride, some journey. I’ve felt and known their music personally, as a fan. It inspired me as songwriter, it blew the whole scene open like nothing before and it reached way beyond the stratosphere. Everything changed. We were all part of that and we will all be part of this. I’m especially looking forward to revisiting my family’s Irish roots when the tour hits Dublin. Let the opening chords shimmer and shine next July.”

Their adoration for one another goes way back, with Liam having been a huge fan of John’s previous band The La’s.

Cast supported Oasis – who haven’t performed live since 2009, due to a long-standing feud between formerly estranged siblings Liam and Noel – numerous times, including at Knebworth in 1996.

Former Verve frontman Richard also has a long history with Oasis – and his wild 1990s antics were the inspiration behind Oasis’ 1995 song ‘Cast No Shadow’.

The ‘Oasis Live ‘25’ tour’ kicks off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4 and includes seven nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The ‘Champagne Supernova’ hitmakers will be supported in North America by US rock band Cage the Elephant.

The global run will also take in Australia and Mexico.
