Oasis ‘set to be supported by Richard Ashcroft and Cast on reunion tour’

Oasis are reportedly set to be supported by Richard Ashcroft and Cast on their reunion tour.

The group’s frontman Liam Gallagher, 52, and his formerly estranged brother Noel, 57, are kicking off their UK, Ireland, US and Australia tour in 2025, and since the comeback gigs were announced speculation has been rife about whether they would recruit 1990s acts as warm-up acts.

A report in The Independent has now claimed indie group Cast will perform first before former The Verve frontman Richard, 53, takes to the stage ahead of Oasis at their comeback gigs.

Representatives for Oasis have declined to comment on the rumour, but it is understood support act confirmation is expected next week.

Richard has a long history with Oasis – and his wild 1990s antics were the inspiration behind Oasis’ 1995 song ‘Cast No Shadow’.

Cast supported Oasis at Knebworth in 1996 split in 2001 before they reformed in 2010, and their seventh album ‘Love is the Call’ came out in February.

Oasis are set to be supported on their North America shows by US rock band ‘Cage the Elephant’, but no support act for their shows in Australia has been announced.

Manic Street Preachers have also been rumoured as a possible back-up group for Oasis.

The report about Richard and Cast comes weeks after Liam teased Oasis fans on social media about the prospect of the former Verve frontman – as well as their old Britpop rivals Blur – and the Manic Street Preachers supporting the band on their reunion gigs.

Liam took to X earlier this month to respond to fans’ questions about the acts being lined up, and declared Richard’s involvement with the Oasis tour would be “Biblical”.

When a fan on X asked the singer if the ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ singer would be appearing on the tour, Liam replied: “That would be BIBLICAL”.

Responding to one fan suggesting Blur singer Damon Albarn, 56, and his band should open for them, Liam said about the group: “I love Blur and at sone point we have to do n old dears tours.”

He then added: “Richard Ashcroft or Manic street preachers as support”, before adding shortly after: “The Manics it is”.

Liam also said about Richard: “Only kidding we never set sail without the 1 and only RICARDO he’s our boy from day DOT come aboard Rkid.”
