Taylor Swift is Spotify’s most-streamed global artist in 2023

Taylor Swift is Spotify’s most-streamed artist globally in 2023.

Spotify has revealed its annual Wrapped campaign for the past year and the ‘Anti-Hero hitmaker has overtaken Bad Bunny to take the title, bringing an end to three years of dominance for the Puerto Rican rapper.

Taylor surpassed 26.1 billion streams worldwide since the start of the year, and she was the most-streamed artist in the US and the UK.

The 33-year-old pop star and Bad Bunny were ahead of The Weeknd, Drake and Peso Pluma who made up the rest of the most-streamed artists globally.

To celebrate Swift’s achievement, Spotify unveiled 21 puzzle pieces on billboards around the globe, including Sao Paulo and Jakarta, teasing her accomplishment in the 48-hour lead-up to Wrapped’s launch.

Now, when fans stream her music on the platform, the progress bar will change colours to reflect the corresponding era colour and the progress button will turn into a sparkle.

Users who are in the top percentage of listeners of her songs will receive a special thank you m video message from Taylor.

The most-streamed song of 2023 is Miley Cyrus’ hit single ‘Flowers’ which recorded 1.6 billion listens, while SZA’s ‘Kill Bill’ and Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ were in second and third place.

Bad Bunny, 29, did have the most-streamed album globally in 2023 with ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ with 4.5 billion total streams followed by Taylor’s ‘Midnights’ at number two.

In 2023, 574 million people used Spotify and the year was defined by the epic return of major female pop stars, sonic diversity across the charts and a global music culture comprised of multiple genres.

For the first time ever, Spotify is bringing Wrapped to life with a unique live show in London on November 30.

Wrapped Live in London will feature performances of some of the standout moments of 2023, including Sam Smith, Chase and Status, Charli XCX, Kenya Grace, Strandz, Raye and Libianca, all hosted by Harriet Rose, Big Zuu, Max Balegde and shxtngigs.

The event will be broadcast live on TikTok from 8.30pm, so viewers at home can head to the @SpotifyUK profile to join us in celebrating 2023 with their favourite artists as we revisit the biggest cultural moments that made our year.
