KISS axe Canadian show as member of ‘band party’ suffers ‘unforeseen illness’

KISS cancelled their concert in Canada last night (21.11.23) – due to “unforeseen illness” within “the band party”.

The ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ group – comprising Gene Simmons,74, Paul Stanley,71, Tommy Thayer, 63, and Eric Singer, 65 – had to pull out of their ‘End of the Road Tour’ concert at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, after an unknown member of their touring party got sick.

A statement from the venue and promoter Live Nation read: “KISS has cancelled their show that had been scheduled for tonight at Canadian Tire Centre. Below is their official statement.

“Due to an unforeseen illness in the band party, we are unable to perform tonight.”

Back during the COVID-19 pandemic, co-frontman and rhythm guitarist Paul branded rumours spreading suggesting he was seriously ill and in intensive care as “absolute nonsense” and reassured fans that he was doing “fine”.

He wrote on Twitter at the time: “PEOPLE!!! I am fine! I am not in ICU! My heart allows me to do 26 miles a day on my bike! I don’t know where this came from but it’s absolute nonsense. (sic)”

The glam metal group had been forced to cancel their Philadelphia show in August 2021, just four days into the final tour, due to Paul testing positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, Gene recently said he would love to see KISS continue with four new musicians.

The veteran rockers are bringing their stage career to an end at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 2, but Gene is open to the ‘Detroit Rock City’ group handing over the “baton” and having younger talent continue under the band’s name.

He told Rolling Stone: “You want to go out while you’re on top.

And remember, we introduce ourselves with, ‘You wanted the best, you got the best, the hottest mofo band on the planet, Kiss.’ At some point, those words are not going to mean very much, when I’m in my rocket-propelled wheelchair with a hot nurse pushing me around.”

Asked if he would allow other musicians to keep the band going, he replied: “I’m totally open to that idea.

“Why not pass the baton, pass the crown to four new, young people who are deserving?”
