Prince William’s children have asked him about war in Ukraine

Prince William’s children have been asking him about the war in Ukraine.

The 39-year-old royal – who has Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, with the Duchess of Cambridge – revealed during a visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in London on Wednesday (09.03.22) that he’s been discussing the Russian invasion with his children.

Prince William told a group of volunteers and royal reporter Rebecca English: “Ours have been coming home asking all about it. They are obviously talking about it with their friends at school.”

Prince William has been “careful” with his words while he’s been discussing the conflict in Ukraine.

He also admitted to being shocked that a war was happening on the edge of Europe.

He said: “It’s very alien to see this in Europe. We are all behind you.”

Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge voiced their support for “all of Ukraine’s people”.

The Duke and the 40-year-old Duchess used their official Twitter account to express their support for Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian people, after Russia launched an invasion of the country.

The royal couple said on the micro-blogging platform: “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future.

“Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future [Ukrainian flag emoji] W and C (sic)”

Prior to that, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex sent their support to the people of Ukraine.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.”
