Paul McCartney collaborates with robot

Paul McCartney has teamed up with a robot for his futuristic new music video.
The 71-year-old rocker, whose previous videos have featured cameos from many celebrities, including Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Kate Moss, Jude Law, Tom Ford, Sean Penn and Natalie Portman, revealed the idea for the sci-fi video for his new track ‘Appreciate,’ which sees him interacting with an android called Newman, came to him in a dream.
He said: "I woke up one morning with an image in my head of me standing with a large robot. I thought it might be something that could be used for the cover of my album ‘New’ but instead the idea turned out to be for my music video for ‘Appreciate’. Together with the people who had done the puppetry for the worldwide hit ‘War Horse’ we developed the robot who became Newman."
Directed by Andre Chocron, the ‘Night at the Museum’-style video sees Newman patrolling a museum filled with humans, including an exhibit of Paul sitting on a stool holding his iconic hofner bass guitar.
The robot is astonished when the former The Beatles star starts to come to life as the song begins and he eventually reaches through a force field to pull Paul out of the showcase, causing all the other exhibitions to come to life too.
The video was premiered exclusively in Japan this week where Paul and his band are currently on a sold-out tour.
The robot is also set to make an appearance on stage during some of their performances.
