Queen Elizabeth is a ‘Line of Duty’ fan

Queen Elizabeth is reportedly a fan of ‘Line of Duty’.

The British monarch is said to be “very into” the hit BBC One police drama and watched the last series with some of her closest staff in her “Windsor bubble”- when she was isolating owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Sunday Times newspaper, the 95-year-old royal and her late husband The Duke of Edinburgh – who died in April at the age of 99 – were looked after by a group of aides during lockdown. They became known as “HMS Bubble” and were headed up by 63-year-old Vice Admiral Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt.

A royal source told the paper that the queen particularly enjoyed “discussing the plotlines” of the show with Sir Tony.

The insider said: “The queen was very into ‘Line of Duty’ and enjoyed discussing the plotlines with Tony.”

Jed Mercurio’s ‘Line of Duty’ – which stars Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar – follows an anti-corruption unit attempting to track down a down a mysterious fourth man, codenamed H. Series 6 broadcast on BBC One from March 2021.

Although the queen is notoriously coy when it comes to revealing personal preferences it’s not the only television programme she’s been rumoured to be a fan of.

In 2018, it was reported that she’d watched some of ‘The Crown’ – the Netflix series based on her life – and she’s also said to be a fan of ‘Doctor Who’ with Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston being her favourite Time Lord.

And the queen also seemingly used to watch Simon Cowell’s pop star search show ‘The X Factor’ as she was thrilled to meet former contestant Mary Byrne on a visit to Ireland back in 2011.

Speaking to 2010 ‘X Factor’ star Mary, Her Majesty said: “You are the lady off ‘The X Factor’. Your song was fabulous.”
