Photographer hails Duke and Duchess of Sussex ‘absolute soulmates’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “absolute soulmates”.

The couple announced on Sunday (14.02.21) they are expecting their second child – a sibling for 21-month-old Archie – along with a black-and-white photograph of Meghan cradling her baby bump with her head in Prince Harry’s lap and their friend and photographer, Misan Harriman, insisted the pair didn’t “need any direction” when it came to posing for the picture because they are so in tune with one another.

Misan – who took the photo remotely on an iPad – told British Vogue: “With the tree of life behind them and the garden representing fertility, life and moving forward, they didn’t need any direction, because they are, and always have been, waltzing through life together as absolute soulmates.

“When you see people who have the connection that they have, it’s like reading the pages of a book.”

And the photographer – who met the former ‘Suits’ star at a charity event some time ago – claimed Harry and Meghan were so comfortable with one another in that moment, they weren’t fully aware he was capturing a piece of history so it was easy for him to tell “their truth” with the photo.

Misan hailed the request for him to take the photo a “marker of true friendship” and admitted it felt particularly poignant in the wake of the revelation the duchess had suffered a miscarriage last July.

He said: “To be asked to help share this absolute joy after such an unimaginable loss and heartache is a marker of true friendship. Meg reminded me that had I not introduced her to a mutual friend then she wouldn’t have met Harry. I’m grateful for whatever small part I played.”

The photograph was accompanied by a brief statement announcing the couple’s baby joy.

Their representative said: “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”
