Kate Garraway injures eye

Kate Garraway had to wear glasses on today’s (24.09.20) ‘Good Morning Britain’ after injuring her eye.

The 53-year-old TV presenter was having trouble reading the morning news on ‘GMB’ after she mysteriously hurt her eye, with the star admitting it is "a bit of a lottery" as to what she can read at the moment.

Speaking on the ITV breakfast show, she said: "Let’s have a look at the front pages now, if that is, I can see them. If you haven’t noticed [the glasses]… I’ve injured my eye.

"I don’t know what I’ve done to it, but I’m going to get it checked out today. But it means it’s all a bit of a lottery at the moment as to whether I can read anything."

Kate was joined by co-hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid, but caused a bit of "glasses envy" with 49-year-old Susanna.

She said: "Kate I’m absolutely loving your glasses, I’ve got a bit of glasses envy."

Kate recently took some time off from ‘GMB’ to be with her children Darcy, 14, and Billy, 11, as her husband, Derek Draper continues to battle the effects of the coronavirus in hospital after falling ill in March.

The 53-year-old former political advisor was put into an induced coma after testing positive for the virus, and though he is now free of Covid-19, he remains in intensive care.

Kate has received plenty of support from her co-stars and her fellow ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ campmates, including Caitlyn Jenner.

Caitlyn recently said: "Kate, when she came home, her husband and coronavirus – it’s been a tragedy.

"I talked to her the other day and as soon as we got on the phone, that voice of hers, I was like, ‘Oh my God, that voice of hers, it has a familiarity.’ "
