EastEnders’ Lily recast ahead of Stacey return

EastEnders’ Lily Fowler has been recast, ahead of Stacey Fowler’s Walford return next week.

Lacey Turner’s character Stacey will be back on screen after the star returned from her maternity leave, and her on-screen daughter is to be portrayed by Lillia Turner, according to the BBC website.

Lillia will take over from Aine Garvey, who played the character from 2014 to 2019, but it’s not the first time the new Lily has been in ‘EastEnders’.

Last year, Lillia played Alyssa, who was part of the football team coached by Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths).

The character appeared in two episodes, and after telling Mick her grandmother had passed away, he told the youngster she could lead the line for the team, but Mitch wasn’t sure she was telling the truth.

It’s not known if Lacey is related to Lillia.

In coming scenes, Stacey will come face-to-face with her pal Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), whose relationship with Stacey’s estranged husband Martin Fowler (James Bye) intensified during lockdown, and the pair both declared their love for each other this week.

Lacey recently admitted she was left in tears when she was turned down for the role of EastEnders’ Demi Miller, before landing the role of Stacey.

She said: "I originally came in for an audition for the Miller family. I went for an audition with them, and Tony Jordan was there and Julia Crampsie – who is the casting director for ‘EastEnders’ and many other things.

"I got down to the last two – it was between me and my cousin. I then went home and they rang me and said I hadn’t got it. I cried in bed. I went to bed that night and I was crying."
