Alex George ‘glad to be back’ after social media break

Dr. Alex George is "glad to be back" from his social media break after his brother’s sad death.

The former ‘Love Island’ star – whose younger sibling Llyr tragically died in July – stepped away from the public eye last month to spend some time with his family and friends, but now he has returned.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (08.09.20), he wrote: "Hi everyone – I am back. Taking some reflective time offline these last few weeks was really important for me.

"I have been spending time with my family and friends, living in the present and trying to focus on the things that matter most.

"Working in A&E has also been a helpful focus, the love and support from my friends and colleagues has meant the world to me and I am thankful to them all.

"I’m sure there will be ups and downs to come but I am glad to be back on here – this community we have built together means a lot to me and I am grateful for you all. Let’s do this".

Alex was left devastated after losing his brother "to mental health", and while he previously admitted he was experiencing the "hardest times" he’s ever faced in his life, he vowed to find strength for his loved ones.

He said: "These are the hardest times I could ever have imagined. The kindness and love our family has received has been incredible and I am so grateful.

"In the darkest times we must pick ourselves up, find strength and be there for our family and friends. That is exactly what I’ll do."

Alex took to Instagram in July to reveal his brother had tragically passed away.

At the time, he said "I can’t believe I am actually writing this post. I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health.

"I love you so much Llyr. The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

"We are hurting so bad. No words can explain. As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy."
