The ‘Good Morning Britain’ host has revealed police think he may have inadvertently told his Twitter followers the ex-England footballer was out as he shared a photo during filming for ‘Life Stories’ with Vinnie Jones.

Speaking on ITV’s ‘GMB’ on Monday (07.09.20), he said: "Strange one that. He was in the audience last Monday. I posted a picture of Gazza in the audience. I didn’t think anything of it.

‘It appears while he was sitting there and that tweet went out, police possibly fear somebody realised he wasn’t at his house and used that opportunity to go and burgle him, which is absolutely appalling for Paul…

"It’s very sad for Paul… What kind of person does that? You know what he’s been through the last few years… If you know what kind of person has done that – if you actually know, let us know. I’d love to know who did that to Paul Gascoigne."

He added: "Nice people right? To go into the house of a person who’s gone through what he has… So if we can find them, that would be great."

Paul has begged the thieves to return the items, which included two bracelets, three rings, diamond earrings, a pair of £800 designer sunglasses, a New York Police Department badge and five watches.

The items "meant so much" to him, and the timepieces included a watch which belonged to his late father, who died from cancer two years ago.

Appearing on this morning’s programme, he said: "I was really close to my dad. He gave us it… so for it to get stolen…

"I don’t mind the other stuff, but the sentimental stuff meant a hell of a lot of us.

"Whoever has got it doesn’t have to own up to it, they could leave it in a bag and leave it somewhere. It’s heartbreaking."
