Bill Oddie nearly died from ‘lithium toxicity’

Bill Oddie nearly died after battling "lithium toxicity" during the coronavirus crisis.

The 79-year-old TV star has taken to Twitter to reveal the extent of his health woes over recent months, admitting he’s been close to death over the summer.

Bill wrote on the micro-blogging platform: "Just so you know, I have been very ill most of this summer . Lithium toxicity. Almost fatal! I am still here but very confused about most things! But then aren’t many of us. IT fuddles my brain.Confusion. Will I return ? I Really dunno. I do hope so. Please wish me luck. XX (sic)"

Bill’s post prompted a huge response from his fans online, including radio DJ Danny Baker.

He replied: "All the best, Bill. I hope your confusion gets no worse than forgetting a few solos on Little Feat albums and so hear them again for the first time. (sic)"

Presenter Iain Lee also sent his best wishes to Bill.

He wrote: "Hang in there Bill. X (sic)"

Bill previously tweeted on June 22, when he admitted he was struggling to use a keyboard.

However, at the time, he didn’t mention anything about his general health situation.

The TV presenter – who was a member of comedy trio The Goodies – tweeted: "I am nearly 79. My fingers get tangled on a keyboard, and are too clumsy for a mobile. I wont go through all the things I can’t do. Jjust about everything.. I am NOT kidding. It is driving me crazy , and that drives my wife crazy too.This is VERY http://serious.Help (sic)"
