Spurs boss Jose Mourinho found it easy to ‘fall in love’ with squad

Jose Mourinho found it easy to "fall in love" with his Tottenham Hotspur players.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss joined the North London football club in November last year, and he found it tough being away from the squad when the most recent season was suspended during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking in an Amazon Prime Video live streamed Q&A before the launch of upcoming UK Amazon Original series ‘All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur’, Jose said: "I missed the players more than anything.

"I always said that this is a group of good guys, which has not always been the case in my long career – it was easy to fall in love with the team."

The series will take fans behind the scenes during a pivotal season and follow all of the key events, including Jose’s arrival, the club’s new 62,000-seater stadium and the club’s work helping to transform the local area.

Viewers will also get a deep look into a unique football season, including the running of the club and its response to the Premier League shutdown.

The head coach was joined by players Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura and Hugo Lloris at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, White Hart Lane as he opened up to Gabby Logan.

He added: "The evolution of the club has led to the best stadium and facilities in the world and without top players there are no top managers."

The feeling is mutual, with England star Dele heaping praise on his boss.

He explained: "When Mourinho speaks to you, you listen every time, he put me in a good place, and gives me something to work towards."

And winger Son agreed with Jose as he admitted he finds himself missing his team mates whenever he has to miss any time through injury.

He said: "We are all like family – when I get an injury and I don’t get to see them and I miss them so much."

‘All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur’ launches exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 31st August 2020 with new episodes available each Monday.
