Hollyoaks re-airing most recent episodes before full return

‘Hollyoaks’ will re-air its five most recent episodes on E4 before its full return.

The Channel 4 soap took a break from its regular schedule once bosses ran out of new episodes at the end of July due to filming being suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In the meantime, ‘Hollyoaks@25’ has filled the gap with a special rerun series revisiting five of the most dramatic weeks of the show’s history.

The spin-off is set to come to an end next week with the ‘Halloween Spooktacular’ stunt week, which included the death of Joe Roscoe (Ayden Callaghan) and the apparent death of Persephone Swales-Dawson’s character Nico Blake.

Then, new schedules revealed for the week starting August 31 have also unveiled plans to re-air more recent episodes.

The final five episodes focused on Warren Fox’s (Jamie Lomas) history with Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood), Darren Osborne’s (Ashley Taylor Dawson) mental health issues, and the build to Mitchell Deveraux (Imran Adams) and Scott Drinkwell’s (Ross Adams) wedding.

While the move will let fans catch up on the plots after a long gap between new eps, it will also be a chance for viewers to see them as they were originally meant to air.

The episodes will be aired across one week, instead of spaced out over three.

However, back in June ‘Hollyoaks’ admitted the show will not return fully to five nights a week until 2021.

A Channel 4 spokesperson previously said: "’Hollyoaks’ will be resuming production this week in Liverpool ahead of a return to recording on set in July.

"The Channel 4 drama, which is shot differently to other soaps with single-camera, will increase in episodes from its current two nights a week to four nights a week from September, the current plan being to return to five episodes in 2021."
