Peter Andre admits lockdown has been ‘really hard’

Peter Andre admits it’s been "really hard" to be away from his parents amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 47-year-old star lives in the UK and his parents, Savvas and Thea, live in Australia – and he’s confessed that the distance has been difficult to deal with during the health crisis.

Peter said: "The thing is, I don’t want to take away from people here that weren’t allowed to see their parents that were two miles away.

"The problem is now for us, yes some of the restrictions are lifted and same in Australia now, and some other countries around the world you can’t go.

"And if you were to go you’d have to quarantine somewhere else, you wouldn’t be able to go to see your parents and quarantine for two weeks to see them. So it’s a really difficult time."

Peter’s concerns are exacerbated by his parents’ health issues.

He told ‘Good Morning Britain’: "The borders in Victoria are completely shut, so it’s a really difficult time right now.

"What I say to people and mum and dad is … all these years, whatever job I was doing, anywhere in the world, if mum and dad said, ‘You need to get home, we need you’. You wouldn’t think twice, whereas now we can’t.

"Mum isn’t well, dad isn’t well, they’re 87 and 85 – it’s really tough."

However, Peter is hopeful that he and his brothers will be able to visit their parents once restrictions are eased.

He said: "My sister lives out there and she is basically caring for mum and dad, but she has a child and fiance, so it’s really difficult for her as well.

"They need us now, they looked after us all our lives, now they need looking after and we can’t, it’s tough, it’s really tough."
