Louisa Lytton wanted to ‘make a difference’ amid pandemic

Louisa Lytton was determined to "make a difference" at the height of the coronavirus crisis.

The 31-year-old actress put herself forward as an NHS volunteer while filming on ‘EastEnders’ was paused, and Louisa is glad she decided to do her bit to help.

Louisa – who plays Ruby Allen in the show – told Inside Soap magazine: "I only did it for a short while, but I just felt it was so important.

"I’m lucky that I live at home with my partner – I’m not on my own, and I have a few elderly relatives who are. I thought about how much they were struggling, so if I was in a position to have a phone call with someone that day to help make a difference, I did."

Meanwhile, James Bye revealed in June that he was looking forward to seeing if his ‘EastEnders’ character and Ruby "get in on" when new episodes air.

The 36-year-old actor – who plays Martin Fowler – is "excited" to watch the plot unfold as a viewer.

He said: "I’m looking forward to getting back and seeing what ‘EastEnders’ has in store really.

"I think where they left Martin before the break was quite an interesting position with the hint that Martin and Ruby were getting it on.

"So I’m looking forward to seeing what is going to happen as much as being involved in the show, as a viewer I’m also quite excited.

"As well as the challenges we’re going to face as actors on the floor and directors with the social distancing. I’m always up for a bit of a challenge so I look forward to seeing how we’re going to do it as a team."
