Ben Shephard taking break from Good Morning Britain

Ben Shephard is taking a break from ‘Good Morning Britain’.

The 45-year-old TV presenter usually co-hosts the ITV breakfast show while Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid are away, but he will be cutting his time on air short as he gets ready to film ‘Tipping Point’.

On today’s (05.08.20) ‘GMB’, the star’s co-host Kate Garraway said: "This is Ben’s last day. You’re going having a bit of time off, aren’t you?"

The ITV game show – which has been presented by Ben since 2012 – halted production of the latest series in March due to the coronavirus.

Now, the studio has been able to set social distancing guidelines for both the crew and contestants.

He told his ‘GMB’ co-host: "We’ll be back in the studio, all socially distanced set so I’m not going to be here.

"But I’m going to be working, Kate Garraway! I know you think I’ve got my feet up and trotters up down in the south of France!"

Kate teased: "Of course you’re working. Asking questions and loading up a machine."

In March, Ben revealed ‘Tipping Point’ had halted filming.

He said at the time: "We’ve been in the studio filming the new series of ‘Tipping Point’ down in Bristol and we were doing that all of this week.

"Sadly that’s had to be suspended now. Clearly there are guidelines in place which we’ve been adhering to, it’s a very big studio, it’s been very difficult."

However, the crew was desperate to continue working but the set became unsafe with contestants traveling from across the country.

He continued: "All the crew are freelance so if they’re not working, they’re not earning money.

"But it was moving the contestants around the country, that was getting harder."
