Amelia Lily eyeing up Hollyoaks role

Amelia Lily would love to land a role in ‘Hollyoaks’.

The 25-year-old star – who rose to fame on ‘The X Factor’ in 2011 and later appeared on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in 2017 – has her sights set on furthering her acting career, after joining the cast of MTV reality show ‘Geordie Shore’ for the current season.

Speaking to Bobby Norris and Brooke Odunbaku on FUBAR Radio’s ‘Access All Areas’ show, she said: "I love performing on stage and I love my singing and acting so it would probably be to be in a soap.

"I’d love to go into a soap one day. Hopefully one day. I’ve been in for them quite a few times, one in particular.

"I would love to do that. I would absolutely love to carry on with my acting. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do."

Amelia – who was born in Nunthorpe near Middlesborough in north east England – also has an idea about where she’d like her career to go.

Taking her hometown into consideration, she doesn’t think a stint on ‘EastEnders’ would be the best move.

She added: "Well I think judging from my accent, it can’t be ‘Eastenders’!

"I’d probably say ‘Hollyoaks’ or ‘Emmerdale’."

After her ‘X Factor’ run almost a decade ago, Amelia enjoyed success on stage, including playing Princess Fiona in ‘Shrek the Musical’ on London’s West End, and now she’s turned her attention to reality television.

On the topic of her ‘Geordie Shore’ stint, she said: "I’m full of surprises aren’t I! A lot of people were shocked obviously when my name was announced, but listen, I don’t think there’s a rulebook anymore in this industry.

"What’s great is, I’ve been in the industry since I was 16 years old and I’ve kind of like grown up into a young woman whilst being in the public eye."
