Danny Miller completes 40-mile charity walk and raises £30k

Danny Miller has completed his 40-mile charity walk, and raised more than £30,000 in the process.

The ‘Emmerdale’ actor walked 40 miles from Manchester to Anfield, the home of his beloved Liverpool FC, yesterday (22.07.20) to raise money for his and his friend Daniel Jillings’ charity Once Upon a Smile, and he was an "emotional mess" by the end of the trek.

He wrote on Twitter: "Cannot thank everyone enough. I’m an emotional mess."

Earlier this morning, Danny – who plays Aaron Livesy in the ITV soap – admitted his "biggest injury" from the walk was "swollen eyes" after he had cried so much at people’s generosity.

He tweeted: "Swollen eyes is my biggest injury. Just cried and cried last night at so many of your beautiful support, donations and generosity (sic)"

The 29-year-old star also wrote on Instagram: "Thank YOU!!! Just Thank YOU! Im literally so emotional. To everyone who donated. Thank you! Speechless! (sic)"

Danny made it to Anfield, where Liverpool were playing their final home match of the Premier League season last night – behind closed doors, due to the coronavirus pandemic – before lifting the trophy.

The soap actor documented his walk on his Instagram Stories, during which he said he would love to make it to £30,000 in donations to the charity, which provides emotional and practical support for bereaved families.

And, at the time of writing, the total is up to £30,626.

Explaining his reasons behind the walk on the JustGiving page, he wrote: "I have waited years to be there when Liverpool finally lift the premier league and now I can’t even see that in person.

"But I’ll get as close as I can with the help and support from my beloved friends and followers.

"I want to combine two thinks I’ve had taken away from me during COVID-19 – which is the access to our fantastic charity HQ and my second love of my seat at Anfield.

"So I decided to add them together and try and earn some vital funds for my beloved charity and help us on the road back to some normality. (sic)"

Earlier this month, Danny Miller was left "speechless" after fans donated over £10,000 to his fundraiser.

He tweeted: "I’m just speechless. And actually too overwhelmed to say anything other than THANK YOU!

"Please keep giving – £20,000 would be an absolute dream!! Please help me (sic)"

And he was previously left in tears after a man donated £2,600.
