Robert Rinder turns into emergency plumber to help Kate Garraway on son’s birthday

Robert Rinder became an emergency plumber for Kate Garraway when she woke up to find she had no water on her son’s birthday.

The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter has thanked her pal for "scrambling into plumbing action" on her boy Billy’s 11th birthday, after she was left without any water to flush the toilet.

She wrote on Instagram: "Also @judgerinder for when I woke up this morning to find had NO WATER , not even a toilet flushing , instantly scrambled into plumbing action. Consider yourself seriously happy birthdayed Billy!!! (sic)"

The TV presenter has admitted it was an "emotional" party for Billy, because his dad Derek Draper was unable to attend as he is still in hospital, where he has been since March after battling coronavirus, but Kate has vowed to throw Billy another 11th birthday party when her husband is out of hospital.

Speaking on ‘GMB’ today (20.07.20), she said: "Bill absolutely loved it, he was completely overwhelmed.

"He was emotional, too, of course. But I said we’re going to do it when dad gets back."

As well as Judge Rinder’s important intervention, Kate’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ co-star Roman Kemp turned up to Billy’s birthday party to play games with him in his jungle T-shirt.

Myleene Klass also attended the bash, and she hired a tepee to erect in Kate’s garden for Billy’s birthday.

Kate wrote: "So I was super nervous about Bill’s birthday this year – we usually have a family do with grandparents & a few of his friends but obviously this not possible. So we are seeing grandparents separately but wanted to do something for him & his mates in the garden. Derek is so brilliant at this, organising treasure hunts & boys own adventures so mentioned to @myleeneklass really didn’t want to let Bill down & did she know anyone with a tent we could borrow in case it was wet. Little did I know what I was unleashing! She is in her element! At 8.30 this morning she arrived with Apollo in tow to supervise the brilliant @sleepyteepeeuk to set up the most amazing jungle camp ever!!! ….

"When Billy woke up he could not believe his eyes!!!! Thanks @sleepyteepeeuk & @myleeneklass and the fabulous @ariannemerry … feel so emotional but know Derek will be so proud and pleased. Can never thank you enough

"And what’s a #jungle camp without a surprise visit from an @imacelebrity star?! Cue @romankemp surprise arrival – who do you think is loving the #nerf war the most??!!! Thanks @romankemp you are a total star & great mate – so lovely to see you & your Dad @martinjkemp xxx (sic)"

While Kate recently revealed Derek is now COVID-free and out of his coma, he is still seriously ill in hospital and she admitted earlier this month that her kids – Billy, and her daughter Darcey, 14 – have "effectively lost their dad".

She said: "For Darcey and Billy right now, effectively they’ve lost their dad.

"He’s not there but he is a presence in their lives."
