Dr Hilary Jones plans a two-week break from Good Morning Britain

Dr Hilary Jones is set to take a two-week break from ‘Good Morning Britain’.

The 67-year-old GP – who has provided the nation with health advice throughout the coronavirus pandemic – recently revealed he intended to take a break from the programme, and he’s now confirmed the length of his absence from TV screens.

He shared: "At the moment, I’m off for a couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to the kip, a little bit of sleep."

Charlotte Hawkins, who was co-hosting the show alongside Adil Ray, subsequently revealed that a specific date for Dr Hilary’s return had not yet been confirmed.

The presenter explained that ITV would "see what happens" as regards his comeback.

Earlier this week, Dr Hilary announced plans to take a break from ‘Good Morning Britain’.

The in-house medical expert has spent the past four months giving viewers daily updates on coronavirus, but with lockdown measures easing across most of the country, he revealed he will be taking some time off.

During the show on Thursday (16.07.20), Charlotte and Adil both praised Dr Hilary’s efforts during the pandemic.

Adil gushed "Where would we be without him? He’s just told me he’s off next week! You can’t leave."

Dr Hilary announced plans to take some time off shortly after presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid left the show for their two-month summer break.

The duo are poised to return to their presenting duties in September, but before he left, Piers took some time to thank the team for their hard work during the pandemic.

He said: "I do want to say to the backroom team here I think that … we sit here and we have done for months going through this extraordinary story, it has been the biggest story of any of our lifetimes with many repercussions.

"But, behind the scenes of ‘Good Morning Britain’, there is this enormous team of people all of who have been working unbelievable hours, a lot of self-sacrifices, not seeing families and so on."
