Emmerdale’s Zoe Henry recalls filming ‘horrendous’ scene with husband Jeff Hordley

Zoe Henry has recalled shooting a "horrendous" ‘Emmerdale’ scene with her husband Jeff Hordley.

The co-stars – who play Rhona Goskirk and Jeff Hordley respectively – have rarely shared a major storyline over their 17-year marriage, but she admitted there was one "hilarious" moment between their characters which lives long in the memory.

She told Inside Soap magazine: "I thought it was hilarious when we found out that Cain is actually Rhona’s secret crush.

"There was another scene after Pierce had gone [the first time], where Rhona got a bit drunk and tried it on with Cain in the Woolpack.

"That was horrendous to film, as I was so nervous about having to work with Jeff!"

Zoe previously explained the pair would rather not "work together", but she understands why viewers enjoy seeing them share the screen.

She said: "I think we probably both prefer not to work together.

"Of course, we enjoy each other’s company, yet I think we quite enjoy each other’s independence at work.

"I don’t know how well Rhona and Cain would get on, either – although I can see why it’s a source of amusement for people if we’re in the same scenes."

Despite some awkwardness on set, the loved-up couple – who first met at drama school in 1994, seven years before they became co-stars – are happier than ever, and their allotment has been a great escape for them during the coronavirus lockdown.

Jeff recently opened up on their experience during the pandemic, and described the plot of land as "the one normality" the pair have in their lives.

He said: "You know the allotment is a really great thing, it’s the one normality that Zoe and I have, because our existence on the allotment is the same as it is, lockdown or no lockdown.

"But to have your hands in the earth and growing things, it’s such a positive thing, it’s such a great thing for mental health and stuff like that."
