Harry Hill lands new TV show

Harry Hill has landed a new TV show on BBC Two.

The 55-year-old comedian’s upcoming programme ‘World of TV’ will use amusing clips to poke fun at different genres of television – including top medical drama and soaps – to reveal how certain series are put together.

In a statement, he said: "It’s about time someone blew the whistle on how these TV shows are put together and it looks like I’m the man for the job.

"Watching TV will never be the same again."

Harry – who first broke into television with silent BBC Two comedy ‘Fruit Fancies’ – will be returning to the channel with his latest project.

The show – made by his own production company NIT TV – will feature old favourites including ‘Fanny Craddock’ and ‘The Grove Family’, alongside current programmes like ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Coronation Street’.

BBC’s entertainment boss Kate Phillips added: "Harry is the undisputed master of unearthing unintentionally funny moments and there will be plenty of them in this laugh out loud series."

The star – who has narrated ‘You’ve Been Framed’ for the past 16 years – hosted ‘Harry Hill’s TV Burp’ for over a decade from 2001.

Harry has been toying with the idea of bringing back the popular comedy TV review show with a new format for some time now, and admitted he asked Peter Kay if he’d like to take on the role.

The TV presenter previously said: "It took up my entire life. I’d start watching telly at 9am, take half an hour break for lunch and get back to it.

"Other than going to record the show, I never really left the house. I asked Peter to take over but he didn’t fancy it."
