Britain’s Got Talent bosses planning Greatest Bits spin-off

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ bosses are reportedly planning a ‘Greatest Bits’ spin-off.

The ITV talent show bosses are planning a special mini series to air on Saturdays nights later this year as the main programme returns with the live semi finals – and the final itself – after the main show was postponed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "The shows will feature the most memorable, surprising and extraordinary auditions from the past 14 years."

Back in May, ‘BGT’ aired the pre-recorded audition stages of the show, but the live finals were put on hold.

And while it has recently been speculated that the show could air without a live audience, judge Amanda Holden previously insisted that would "never" happen.

She said: "All of the main judges have been given a date to hold in early autumn to see if it works live.

"But we would never do it without an audience because we’ve always said the British public is the fifth judge.

"So we can’t do it without them – it would be no fun without them! We’ll see what happens, but we are planning to do it this year."

It seems Simon Cowell agrees with his fellow panellist, as the boss recently hinted he wouldn’t want to film without an audience, after admitting he "wouldn’t want to do that again" following his ‘America’s Got Talent’ experience.

He said: "I wouldn’t want to do that again in the future. The expression, ‘The show must go on,’ to a point, we did as much as we could. And then after two days, we realised we had to finish."

Meanwhile, Amanda also revealed how Simon continued to pay the show’s staff despite live shows being axed earlier this year.

She revealed: "He’s very generous. The way that he’s dealt with his staff, paying them while the shows are off, he does everything right and he does it quietly."
