Paul Chuckle feels Barry’s ghost with him when he performs

Paul Chuckle can feel the ghost of late brother Barry with him when he performs.

The 72-year-old actor – who appeared alongside his beloved brother on the hit children’s series ‘The Chuckle Brothers’ – admitted he can often feel Barry’s presence on stage, and it even helps him deliver their old material.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: "Baz comes to me in my dreams and I feel his presence when I’m waiting in the wings before I go on stage.

"He inspires me with gags. I’m doing a lot of the lines he used to do and I feel he’s there helping me get laughs so I can time them the same as he did."

Barry’s death was announced in August 2018 after he kept his illness hidden from the public, but shortly after his death Paul revealed his brother had battled bone cancer.

The comedy duo first found fame with their BBC show ‘Chuckle Hounds’ in 1985, which saw them dressed as dogs to entertain pre-school children, before ‘ChuckleVision’ – which is best known for the brothers’ catchphrase "To me, to you" – turned them into household names.

The show – which ran from 1987 to 2009 – still brings Paul many happy memories of his late sibling.

He said: "We started out in show business together when he was 18 and I was 15, and we were never apart from then on. I was the feed and he was the comic – the Ernie Wise to his Eric Morecambe.

"I have so many happy memories of our time together. It’s like losing my right arm. Working on stage with him is what I miss most. No one could make me laugh like he could."
