Jack P Shepherd’s comical Coronation Street scenes

Jack P. Shepherd cannot look at Simon Gregson on the ‘Coronation Street’ set without bursting into laughter.

The 32-year-old star has played David Platt on the cobbles for 20 years, but he struggles to get through any scenes with Simon (Steve McDonald) or Peter Gunn (Brian Packham) because they get the giggles.

He said: "We always crack up, with most of the cast actually.

"I can’t look at Simon Gregson. If I look into his eyes, I’ll just die.

"And Peter Gunn – forget keeping a straight face with him."

Julia Goulding (Shona Ramsey) added: "Alan Halsall [Tyrone Dobbs] is another one."

Jack also admitted if he had to portray another character on the cobbles he would go for Dev Alahan, because he loves what Jimmi Harkishin does with his scripts.

He added: "If you could see the scripts that Jimmi gets and what he does with it, it’s completely different.

"He invents a language – it’s insane and absolutely brilliant. I love him."

And Julia would love a go at portraying "sexy" Carla Connor – who is played by Alison King – because she is a lot more "glamorous" and no-nonsense than Shona.

Speaking in a joint interview with Inside Soap magazine, she added: "I would be Carla. She’s bolshie, sexy, and has brilliant storylines.

"And Shona’s not very glamorous, so it might be nice to have a glass of red and whack some heels on."

‘Coronation Street’ stars resumed filming last week following the enforced break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
