Iain Stirling is in talks for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Love Island’ narrator is said to have held discussions with the BBC One show’s bosses about taking part in the programme later this year, after the ITV2 dating show was cancelled this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A TV insider told The Sun Online: "Iain’s had a few talks with the show and the ball is in his court.
"It’s early days but bosses are really keen to get him on the dancefloor – he’s a great name who would be popular with the audience."
‘Strictly’ bosses are thought to be determined to get the show on this year one way or another, despite the pandemic.
Several stars have been linked to this year’s series, including TV presenter Maya Jama, ‘Brassic’ actress Michelle Keegan, ‘Loose Women’ panellist Stacey Solomon, and ‘Coronation Street’ actor Jack P. Shepherd.
One idea ‘Strictly’ bosses are thought to be considering ahead of the new series is to have the professional dancers isolate in a hotel together for two weeks to practice group dances.
A show spokesman said: "The BBC and the entire ‘Strictly’ family are working hard to ensure everyone can enjoy some much needed ‘Strictly’ sparkle later this year.
"Our professional dancers are set to start rehearsing remotely at the end of July. As we continue to follow the latest guidance from Public Health England and industry guidelines, we are considering isolating the dancers and key production members to enable our much-loved group numbers to continue.
"We’re incredibly proud of our professional dancers for their dedication to the show and their commitment to showcasing their love of dance to the nation.
"The safety of our cast and crew is of the utmost importance to us and further updates will be made in due course."
