Jade Thirlwall promises Little Mix talent show will look after competitors

Jade Thirlwall is proud that Little Mix’s talent show looks after its contestants.

The 27-year-old singer and her bandmates – who found fame on ‘The X Factor’ in 2011 – have launched their own BBC One music competition show, ‘The Search’, and Jade insisted that their competitors will be taken care of and assisted as much as possible throughout their journey.

She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "It’s so lovely being able to give people that opportunity, to put them on a show where you know they are going to be looked after properly. We’re going to take care of them and help them as much as we can."

When asked what she and her bandmates Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock will be looking for from contestants, she said: "I go for attitude any day of the week. To me it doesn’t matter how talented you are, if you don’t have the right attitude and you’re not willing to work hard for it, then it’s a no from me."

Jade previously said that the main aim is to find "the next amazing band" regardless of the amount of members or whether they are all-male, all-female or mixed.

She added: "We don’t want to give too much away, but there are no genres – we are completely open.

"Boys, girls, numbers-wise – it doesn’t matter. We just want to find the next amazing band."

On landing the BBC show, the girls said in a statement last year: "We want to create lots of incredible groups who really gel. As we have been there and done it ourselves, we know what it takes to make a group successful, and will be there to mentor them every step of the way.

"We want solo artists to audition as well as groups and every type of genre is welcome too."

Charlotte Moore, director of BBC Content, said: "One of Britain’s most popular all-female bands Little Mix will bring their magic to BBC One on Saturday nights in 2020 in a brand-new show set to inspire the next generation of young artists."

Andrea Hamilton, executive producer at ModestTV, said: "It’s a real privilege to be building a new show around such a successful and loved British band.

"Creating bands means relationships matter and there’s no one better to share that experience than Little Mix, who are living it right now."

Singers will form into new bands, live together, and gain access to Little Mix’s inner circle of vocal coaches, song writers, producers, stylists, and more.
