Robbie Williams helping Neil Ruddock with his recovery

Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock has revealed Robbie Williams is helping him with his recovery after he underwent life-saving surgery.

The 52-year-old former England footballer had emergency heart surgery during his stint on ‘Harry’s Heroes: Euro Having a Laugh’ after years of heavy drinking, and now his mate Robbie has offered to lend him a hand as he heals.

Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (10.06.20), Razor said: "We were best of friends back in the 90s. Then he moved to LA and we lost touch.

"I think he found out what I had been going through, he got in touch and he rang me. We had a Zoom call for 10 minutes, which lasted about an hour and a half because he doesn’t stop talking. He was just worried about me."

The former Take That singer has also offered to fly the ex-footballer’s family out to Los Angeles so he can help guide Razor during his recovery.

He added: "The best thing about it is that I’m going to LA soon, he’s invited us to go and see him and spend some time with his family and sort of be my counsellor, so to speak."

Razor had to stop filming Harry Redknapp’s TV show halfway through to go under the knife, after doctors discovered his resting heart rate was at least 130 beats per minute, when it should’ve been around 60 to 70.

He previously said: "’Harry’s Heroes’ sent me to a heart surgeon to check everything was alright because I was getting dizzy just running upstairs. I thought, ‘Oh, no, it could be brain trauma after heading too many footballs.’

"But they found it was from my heart beating too fast, so that was a big wake-up call.

"Just going up the stairs it must have been going at 140 or 150 beats a minute – that’s a workout rate. It’s gone back to 60, 70 or 80 beats now when resting

"They also found out my heart had been stopping for up to seven seconds every night."
