Paul McGann will face Daleks in new Doctor Who trilogy

Paul McGann is returning for three new ‘Doctor Who’ adventures.

The 60-year-old actor – who initially played the Eighth Doctor in the 1996 television film – will reprise the iconic role and face the Daleks in a new trilogy from Big Finish Productions which is being released in October as part of the multi-media crossover series ‘Time Lord Victorious’.

Producer Alfie Shaw said: "’Time Lord Victorious’ has been a glorious delight to work on.

"We have three new authors writing the Eighth Doctor trilogy, pitting him against one of my new favourite characters in ‘Doctor Who’, Brian the Ood Assassin, as well old favourites, the Daleks."

While the three stories are part of the wider "patchwork", Shaw explained that fans won’t have to experience the entirety of ‘Time Lord Victorious’ to understand them.

As quoted by RadioTimes.com, he explained: "It all ties into the bigger ‘Time Lord Victorious’ patchwork, but you can just listen to the ‘McGann Trilogy’ and enjoy it on its own."

The three stories will be part of a wider multi-platform tale featuring the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Doctors – played by McGann, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant respectively on the BBC sci-fi favourite – alongside Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler.

The new and untold story is set within the Dark Times at the start of the universe, and the unique project will bring together the likes of Penguin Random House, Doctor Who Magazine, Titan Comics, Escape Hunt and Big Finish Productions.

Also part of the exciting collaborative effort will be Eaglemoss Hero Collector, Immersive Everywhere, Maze Theory, BBC Books and BBC Audio as the tale spans several mediums.

The project will feature products and experiences across a range of platforms as several Doctors travel across space and time to defend their home planet from a terrible race.
