Snapchat launches Hollyoaks lens

Snapchat has launched a ‘Hollyoaks’ AR lens for fans to create their own cliff-hangers.

The photo platform has joined forces with Channel 4 to release several clips of fan favourite shows on the app over the next year, and to mark the soap becoming the first on the platform, they have launched a new filter which allows supports to become the stars of the show.

Sean Mills, Head of Content at Snap, said: "Channel 4 shares our passion for creating mobile content in new ways. We are delighted to extend our successful relationship and bring even more great shows to UK Snapchatters.

"We can’t wait to see their distinctive storytelling style reimagined for the vertical screen."

The new lens includes the ‘Hollyoaks’ theme tune and end credits to allow fans to re-create some of Channel 4’s most shocking moments themselves.

It comes as part of the new agreement between the broadcaster and the social media creators, which has seen shows including ‘Celebs Go Dating’ and ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’ launch on the Discover platform since 2018.

Other programmes being released along with the channel’s programming are ‘The Last Leg’, ‘Grime Gran’, and ‘Five Guys A Week’.

Alex Mahon, Chief Executive, Channel 4 said: "We are hugely excited to bring more Channel 4 to Snapchat. We have a unique brand and taste and reach into the youth-dominated audience of Snap so the fit is clear.

"This partnership allows us to further our mission to serve young audiences, to increase time spent with Channel 4 and to supercharge our digital footprint across 2020.

"We are continually evolving and adapting to reach our audience wherever they are and this is the latest iteration.

"I am particularly thrilled that ‘Hollyoaks’ will offer Snapchatters a unique introduction to the joys of the great British soap."
