Mary Berry’s new BBC cookery show

Mary Berry has landed a new cooking series.

The 85-year-old TV chef will return to television screens later in the year with her latest BBC Two show, ‘Mary Berry’s Simple Comforts’, which will see the culinary queen serve up some simple dishes as she visits the nation’s hot spots.

She took to the road for the six-part series – which was filmed prior to the coronavirus pandemic – to whip up a range of simple dishes on offer in the UK and abroad.

Catherine Catton, BBC Head of Commissioning, said: "Now, more than ever, home cooking is central to daily life and Mary Berry’s take on comfort food is exactly what we all need."

The upcoming series follows Mary’s previous series ‘Mary Berry’s Absolute Favourites’, ‘Mary Berry’s Foolproof Cooking’, and ‘Mary Berry Everyday’, and will also accompany her new book of the same name.

Karen Ross, Managing Director of Sidney Street Productions, added: "Mary Berry is still the Queen of home cooking. There is no one else we want to turn to when we are looking for something comforting to cook at the end of a very long day.

"This series is a celebration of all those wonderful just-sink-into dishes, all brought alive by Mary’s incredible skill, humour and her joy of cooking!"

A TV insider previously revealed the culinary queen spent six months on the road tasting new dishes to bring some much needed comforts during the global health crisis.

They said: "She’s spent the last six months on the road for her new series and visits locations across the nation.

"Mary will be teaching viewers how to rustle up something new in the kitchen which will soothe the soul and keep everyone happy and healthy."
