Emmerdale actress Charley Webb airs her coronavirus concerns

Charley Webb is concerned people will think the UK is "back to normal" if Clap For Carers ends.

Last night’s (28.05.20) weekly Thursday applause for NHS staff and other key workers appears to have been the last one after the idea’s founder, Annemarie Plas, said she thought the 10th week would be a good time for the applause to come to an end – but ‘Emmerdale’ actress Charley worries people may now start to break rules.

She wrote on Twitter: "Why is tonight the last night of clapping?I worry this is an indication that people think we’re back to normal. (sic)"

The 32-year-old actress – who has children Buster, 10, Bowie, four, and eight-month-old Ace with her husband and Dales co-star Matthew Wolfenden – admitted parts of her local area look like a "holiday town", and she worries there will be a second wave of coronavirus cases.

She added: "I understand that things are changing which is great but some of the area where we live is like a holiday town. This is how we will end up with a 2nd wave.Don’t get it! (sic)"

The pandemic effectively shut down the entertainment industry, with filming on productions halted as the UK went into lockdown in March.

And while Charley is on maternity leave anyway, she recently admitted she has held talks with the soap’s bosses about returning to the programme, but is yet to set a comeback date.

She said: "At home with the kids is where I need to be at the moment.

"We’re in talks and work has been amazing about giving me the extra time I need. The difference from two to three children feels huge, so I haven’t confirmed when I’m going back yet.

"Bowie starts school in September, and I want to be around for that. I can’t imagine being back at work at the moment."
