Joey Essex ‘hallucinated’ during Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins interrogation

Joey Essex started "hallucinating" during his interrogation on ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.

The 29-year-old star – who will be one of six famous faces taking part in the intense round of Ant Middleston’s gruelling Channel 4 show – admitted he thought he "was in space" when he was taken for the challenge.

He’s quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: "It was definitely the toughest thing.

"Before, we were on the road for maybe 15 hours or something and then we were grabbed and went into interrogation. I was hallucinating, I didn’t know where I was. I thought I was in space."

The former ‘TOWIE’ star compared the experience to "getting arrested when you’re really drunk", and he insisted he really felt he was "on another planet".

He added: "You sort of know what’s going on, you know you’ve been kidnapped.

"Imagine getting arrested when you’re really drunk and then not knowing where you are when you wake up and you think you’ve been kidnapped.

"I actually thought I was physically on another planet."

Joey has been open about how difficult he found the endurance show, and recently admitted he found the programme "so difficult" to get through.

He said: "It’s so difficult… It looks terrible on TV but when you’re there, even to get from where we sleep just to get to the car with soggy boots, we’re freezing cold, our socks are always wet. The whole thing is just horrific, every minute of the day."

However, the experience taught him a lot about himself, and he feels ready to focus on himself rather than relying on other people.

He added: "I feel a lot more content, if that’s the word. I feel a lot more like I can be on my own."
