Coronation Street’s Nigel Havers thinks cast will be going ‘stir-crazy’ during coronavirus lockdown

Nigel Havers thinks the ‘Coronation Street’ cast "must be going stir-crazy" during lockdown.
The ITV soap bosses previously suspended filming due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the former cobbles star – who played Lewis Archer from 2009 to 2019 – admitted the situation will have taken some getting used to for the cast and crew.
He told Women’s Weekly magazine: "’Corrie’ is full on. I think they probably can’t believe they’re not acting.
"They’re not used to not working and must be going stir-crazy, but they’ll get the hang of it!"
The 68-year-old actor admitted he has been making the most of the difficult situation to enjoy some quality time with his family.
Nigel – who has been married to wife Georgiana Bronfman for 13 years – has wanted a break for a while now, and he’s described the lockdown as "lovely".
He explained: "Lockdown has been great. We are very close, we love being on our own together, so it’s not been any strain or stress for us. It’s lovely.
"There’s nothing you can do about it so you might as well just lie back and enjoy it.
"I just obey what I’ve been told to do, which is keep your distance, don’t go out unless you have to, and keep cool, keep calm and carry on – and watch TV!"
Nigel – who was filming a new drama when production halted due to the health crisis – has kept busy, and his upcoming BBC antiques programme ‘The Bidding Room’ has occupied his time with voiceovers despite filming already being complete.
He added: "I’ve pretty much done everything! I just want to keep working and keep doing things that I like doing.
"Staying alive is always an achievement, especially today."
