Jane Horrocks: I’m not a television person

Jane Horrocks isn’t a "television person".
The 56-year-old actress – who previously starred in the BBC sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ – has admitted her passion for TV has waned over recent years, even though she enjoys watching the comedy series ‘Mrs. Fletcher’.
She shared: "The most recent thing I watched and really enjoyed was the HBO comedy series ‘Mrs. Fletcher’, based on Tom Perrotta’s book.
"But I’m not really a television person – it’s not something that I gravitate towards. I find it keeps me awake at night and I’m less enamoured of TV now than I used to be.
"I watched about seven episodes of ‘Succession’ but, contrary to its popularity, I’m not too bothered about going back for more.
"I guess I’m just not a binge watcher – I think it’s because I work in the industry, so it’s a bit like carrying coals to Newcastle for me."
Jane – who has Molly, 21, and Dylan, 23, with screenwriter Nick Vivian – also revealed how she’s been filling her time amid the coronavirus lockdown.
She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "I’ve started playing chess with my son. I’m a total beginner and he’s better than I thought he was, so he’s cleaning up.
"This hour of exercise a day we’ve been given means that I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. I do a class called 5Rhythms, where you dance freely to five types of musical beat.
"Each class is two-and-a-half hours long and I’ve been doing it for six years now. It’s taken me a few sessions to get used to the online version, but now I’m loving it.
"I’ve also been out cycling every day. I thought we were all supposed to be connecting, but seemingly not where I live. I’ve made it my mission to smile at as many people as possible on my bike ride, but have received a very mixed response.
"I also met some friends on Zoom the other day. I found it weird not connecting with them in the flesh. I just don’t think I’m an online kind of person. You still have to put make-up on – that’s the problem."
