Sue Cleaver recalls being knocked out during on-screen fight

Sue Cleaver was once knocked unconscious during an on-screen fight.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who plays Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap – has revealed she was accidentally knocked out cold after being struck in the face by former co-star Judy Holt, who misjudged a punch.
Sue told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Judy’s character had Alzheimer’s. She punched me, misjudged it and I got knocked out cold on the floor.
"I had to visit the hospital to get checked out – she was mortified. When it went out on screen they used the real sound from the punch on the show."
Meanwhile, Sue has revealed ‘Coronation Street’ bosses are doing all they can to ensure the long-running soap resumes filming as soon as possible.
The programme has suspended filming amid the coronavirus lockdown, but Sue has insisted every effort is being made to return to normality.
She told ITV’s ‘Lorraine’: "All you need to know is that there are people working day and night behind the scenes trying to get back."
‘Coronation Street’ script writers have been working "furiously" to change upcoming storylines due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ian Bartholomew – who plays Geoff Metcalfe on the show – recently said the writers will need to alter their current plots, because the cast will probably still have to apply social distancing when they return.
He explained: "We’ll have to have smaller crews. And that’s the headaches that the writers and the producers and storyliners have at the moment.
"They’re working furiously to try and pull the storylines that they’ve got back into some sort of shape that we’ll be able to tell in a different way."
