Georgia Steel doesn’t want Love Island to get relocated

Georgia Steel doesn’t think ‘Love Island’ should be relocated.
The 22-year-old reality TV star – who appeared in the villa back in 2018 – has responded to rumours the ITV2 dating show could be moved from its usual spot in Majorca in order to stay on air this summer despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking on FUBAR Radio, she said: "Obviously I think the show’s amazing and it’ll be entertaining wherever it is, but I do also feel like everyone knows Love Island for being in a hot country abroad so I don’t know whether it would have the same type of vibe.
"I think it would feel like a completely different show."
Joanna Chimonides – who was part of the programme last summer – agreed, and insisted the show would be too similar to ‘Big Brother’.
She added: "You know what it’ll be like? It’ll be like ‘Big Brother’! I’m not feeling it.
"I’m not quite sure I’m with that one. Do you know what I think we need to do?
"Wait it out and then the next summer comes when hopefully things all settle down and then it’ll be like the biggest ‘Love Island’ because everyone’s waited so long for this. Just wait."
Their stance echoes comments made by ITV Head of Studios Kevin Lygo this week, as he suggested time is running out for the team to work on plans for the summer.
The telly boss is also concerned that if they do go ahead and make the show it might be sending out the wrong message to the general public who are being told to stay indoors to stop the spread of the deadly respiratory disease.
He added: "What signal might it be sending out if we’re doing a show where everyone is crammed together slavering over each other, and the rest of the world is told not to go near anyone in the park?"
Lygo also dismissed suggestions the location of the villa could be moved from Majorca to Cornwall, South West England, insisting it "wouldn’t be the same".
