Ruth Jones doesn’t want the ‘red carpet lifestyle’

Ruth Jones doesn’t want to lead the "red carpet lifestyle".
The ‘Gavin & Stacey’ star – who co-wrote the BBC comedy with James Corden and plays the beloved role of Nessa – leads the same life she has always done in her home city of Cardiff, South Wales, and she wouldn’t change it for the world.
She told the new issue of Woman & Home magazine – of which she is the cover star – that: "I still live in Cardiff, my family are nearby and my old friends. I guess I don’t want the red carpet lifestyle enough to change that."
Ruth also admitted that she is not a fan of getting dressed up and rarely wears make-up, unlike her heavy eyeliner wearing alter ego, whilst she insisted she would much rather party with her close friends than rub shoulders with A-Listers.
She continued: "I wouldn’t go out of my way to go to a big celebrity bash. "You have to make an effort to dress up. I’m a bit lazy really.
"I can’t be bothered to put make-up on – I certainly don’t wear it day-to-day.
"There’s something more enjoyable about being at a party among your friends."
The 53-year-old actress also revealed that she is suffering from arthritis in her knee and admitted that perhaps she should have looked after her health more when she was younger, though she insisted she still feels like she’s in her 30s – despite the odd "aches and pains".
She told the publication: "If you’d asked me when I was younger what life would be like in my 50s, I’d probably have imagined someone like my grandmother.
"I’d have looked like a little old lady who went for a shampoo and set every week.
"But it’s funny – when you get to your 50s it’s not like that at all because apart from a few aches and pains, I feel like I’m in my 30s. Perhaps I ought to behave accordingly."
Ruth has turned to turmeric for her arthritis.
She added: "Perhaps I should have been more careful with my health. I have a bit of arthritis in my knee.
"When you’re younger you think ‘it won’t happen to me’ but of course these things do.
"I’m taking Tumeric as that’s anti-inflammatory and I try to avoid processed carbohydrates. But I love walking."
