Race Across The World champs to give £15k to charity

The ‘Race Across The World’ winners are to donate £15,000 of their prize money to charities around the world.
Emon and Jamiul took home the £20,000 winnings after beating their competitors to Ushuaia in Argentina by 20 seconds, and they now plan to share their prize with people they met along their travels.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, Emon said: "We decided whatever happened, we wanted to give money back to South America – £10,000 will help a lot."
The uncle and nephew have also decided to give away another £5,000 to their family orphanage in Bangladesh, and the remaining cash will be used to travel around the world to see how their donations are being spent.
Jamiul added: "We want to go there ourselves and see that money being put into action. We also want to go to Bangladesh. My grandad, Emon’s dad, has got an orphanage there.
"We want to be able to spend some time there as well. So the rest of that money, I think, will go towards us doing those things, and maybe a bit of a holiday, too."
The duo narrowly beat four other pairs of travellers in Saturday’s final (25.04.20) after living out of their backpacks for 50 days without a phone to help them make the 8,757 km journey.
However, their generous donation comes after it was revealed Emon had grown distant with his family after a big fall out 10 years ago.
He said: "It’s made me realise how important family is. For 10 years I was absent in my own little world. I just missed so much of the family."
What’s more, Emon had no idea what he was getting himself into when Jamiul applied to the show on his behalf, but has volunteered for other survival series.
Emon revealed: "He just said, ‘Do you fancy doing this show?’ I was like, ‘Yeah whatever’.
"I never thought anything would come of it. I’ve applied for every series of ‘Hunted’ and ‘Bear Grylls’."
