Alexander Demetriou has separated from his wife Carlotta Edwards.
The ‘Dancing On Ice’ stars – who have been married for four years – have called time on their relationship, and he suggested the split was "best for the both" of them.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the 28-year-old skater said: "I’m sorry I have been quiet on social media recently but it’s been a tough time personally for me.
"Carlotta and I have separated. Although it saddens me that we can no longer be together, I feel this is best for the both of us.
"I’m looking forward to what the future will bring but in the meantime let’s all stay home and stay safe."
Carlotta, 30, is yet to comment on the sad news, but she is currently spending time with her loved ones in Calgary, Canada amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Two months ago, Alexander shared an Instagram post alongside fellow pro skater Lukasz Rozycki, as he hailed his co-star’s marriage to wife Alexandra as "an inspiration" to him and Carlotta.
He previously wrote: "I have always looked up to this guy @icelukasz even before we started working together on @dancingonice.
"He and his wife @alex_lukasz have always been an inspiration to myself and @carlottaedwards.
"Thank you so much @snowfinelskiwear for the lovely jumpers that happen to be Blackpool colours. (sic)"
Both Carlotta and Alexander competed on the most recent series of ‘Dancing On Ice’ earlier this year, paired with Ben Hanlin and Maura Higgins respectively.
While Alexander and the former ‘Love Island’ star were eliminated mid-February, his wife narrowly missed out on a spot in the final three as she and Ben were axed with just one week to go.
