Pharrell Williams hung up on Michael Jackson

Pharrell Williams has revealed he hung up on the late Michael Jackson twice.

The ‘Happy’ hitmaker received a phone call from the King of Pop when he was recording a track with Justin Timberlake for his first solo album but he thought it was someone playing a prank on him, so he rejected the calls.

However, after Michael rung for the third time, Pharrell’s management encouraged him to answer the phone.

Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he explained: "So I pick up the phone and he’s like ‘Hello, how are you? It’s Michael [crunch crunch crunch crunch].’

"He was eating popcorn in my ear and that’s when I knew it was him."

However, after realising he’d just hung up on the star, who died in 2009, the 41-year-old singer thought he better rectify the situation he’d just landed himself in.

Although, he soon learnt that Michael was only interested in talking about Justin, 33.

He recalled: "I’m like, ‘I’m such a huge fan,’ and he’s like ‘How’s it going with Justin, is he good?’"

Pharrell then replied with ‘Yes sir,’ and the ‘Billie Jean’ hitmaker said, ‘That’s good, that’s amazing. Cool. Well, have a good time, see you later’."
