Danny Dyer to teach children history

Danny Dyer and Jodie Whittaker have joined ‘Bitesize Daily’ to help teach children during the coronavirus lockdown.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor and the ‘Doctor Who’ star are among hundreds of teachers and famous faces the BBC have called upon to bring the nation’s kids 14 weeks of curriculum-based learning.
As a direct descendant of King Edward III, Danny, 42, will teach history to Key Stage 1 pupils.
Jodie, 37, will pop up in various videos throughout the daily lessons to keep students motivated with inspirational messages of support and tips on how to stay focused.
Singers Mabel and Liam Payne have signed up to teach music and reading, and Sir David Attenborough is set to help youngsters learn about the ocean and animals.
Manchester City’s star striker Sergio Aguero will also take part by teaching pupils how to count in Spanish, and former MP Ed Balls will teach Key Stage 3 children maths.
A number of teachers from across the UK – including ‘Educating Yorkshire’ favourite Mr Burton – have also joined together to front daily lessons for the summer term, available from each week day from Monday (20.04.20) on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Red Button.
The lessons have been split into appropriate age groups to teach different levels, as well as offering additional resources and guides for parents to help with home schooling.
Alice Webb, Director BBC Children’s & Education, said: "We’re proud that the BBC can bring together so many people to offer such a wide-ranging package of support to help children and parents right across the UK at such a challenging time.
"We said the BBC would be there for people through this crisis, and we meant it. It’s vital that every child is able to continue learning – and the lessons we’re putting on will make sure they have fun at the same time."
