Dr Alex George’s tough silence during coronavirus lockdown

Dr. Alex George is finding it tough to come home to "silence" during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 30-year-old doctor has been working on the NHS frontline on the A&E ward at Lewisham Hospital, south east London, amid the ongoing health crisis, but he admitted it is "odd" to come home and not see his girlfriend Amelia Bath, who he chose to live away from during the pandemic to protect her from the virus.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: "I’m seeing very difficult things, to coming home here to silence. That is very odd. I’m naturally very sensitive.
"I’m someone that enjoys human company, I like being around people and it’s difficult … I mean I haven’t seen Amelia now for three plus weeks which is a long time.
"I think when you see difficult things you want to share those things with people and talk about it which is difficult.
"And it’s hard to explain over FaceTime things that you’re thinking. You want to be there in the present sometimes to really be able to share how you’re feeling about certain things."
The former ‘Love Island’ star also admitted he knows people who don’t work in his field sometimes find it "really hard to hear" about the harrowing things he experiences at work.
He added: "What’s also difficult is the things that we’re seeing and experiencing, if you tell people that haven’t worked in A&E or not doctors or healthcare professionals, it’s really hard to hear actually.
"And you don’t want to upset other people so that can be a challenge."
Alex’s comments come after he recently admitted he often cries when he comes home from a draining shift after watching young adults lose their lives to the deadly respiratory disease.
He said: "I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t shed a tear coming home."
