Strictly bosses ‘in talks with 2 A-listers’

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses are said to be in talks with "two A-listers" who are "considering joining the show".
The BBC One Latin and ballroom show’s producers are thought to have been chasing the two unnamed stars "for years" and look to be closing in on their preferred targets, as it is hoped the show will still go ahead this year despite the current coronavirus crisis.
An insider said: "’Strictly’ bosses are actually in talks with some huge stars now the lockdown has come into effect.
"There are two A-listers in particular that bosses have been trying to sign for years who are now considering joining the show."
It is thought ‘Strictly’ could be in a good position to attract stars to this year’s series after production on numerous shows and films was cancelled, due to the pandemic.
The insider added to The Sun Online: "The thing is – because of the lockdown, a lot of celebs are having films, TV shows, tours and theatre bookings cancelled and ‘Strictly’ is likely to go ahead – it’s a big payday and a huge, prestigious show.
"When packed schedules might have stood in the way before, now a lot of stars’ calendars have opened right up."
This comes after head judge Shirley Ballas insisted earlier this month that ‘Strictly’ bosses will do "everything in their power" to get the show on in September.
She said: "I spoke to Sarah, the executive producer, throughout the week, and of course you definitely don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, but I know they will definitely do everything in their power, if it’s conceivably possible, they will get that show on the air by September.
"So, it’s fingers crossed, let’s see how we go day to day.
"But I know they understand it’s an important show for the nation, and I think people will ready for that come the winter months.
"Fingers crossed, if everyone self-isolates and we all do what we’re supposed to do then there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be up and running by the end of the year."
