Jennifer Metcalfe ‘privileged’ as Hollyoaks Favourites looks back at Mercedes wedding

Jennifer Metcalfe feels "privileged" that ‘Hollyoaks Favourites’ kicked off with her character’s wedding to Dr. Browning.
The soap stalwart’s alter-ego Mercedes McQueen has been involved in some huge storylines over the years, including a chaotic wedding to Dr. Browning (Joe Thompson), who she later killed after he held her hostage and beat her up.
‘Hollyoaks’ fans were treated to a look back at Mercedes and Dr. Browning’s ill-fated nuptials on E4 last night (02.04.20) in the first episode ‘Hollyoaks Favourites’, which is co-hosted by Kieron Richardson (Ste Hay) and Jorgie Porter (Theresa McQueen).
Jennifer said: "I feel so happy that they’re starting the Hollyoaks favourites series with Mercedes and Dr Browning’s wedding. There’s been so many amazing episodes from Hollyoaks, so for them to start with that, I feel very privileged and happy.
"For me, those episodes have everything in it. It’s got the tears, it’s got humour, it’s sexy, and it’s sassy. It was a great time. I always look back on my favourite moments as the Dr Browning wedding, so to see that again, and show all of our viewers that again, I’m going to feel very, very proud."
Joe added: "I used to love filming the big set pieces on the show, because you’d get so many of the cast on set at the same time.
"I remember there was this massive portrait of Mercedes and Browning next to the altar, I couldn’t stop laughing when I first saw it, I thought that was a perfect touch."
Jen is hoping the soap will also look back to the time teacher Becca Dean (Ali Bastian) embarked on an affair with pupil Justin Burton (Chris Fountain).
She said: "I remember, before I joined ‘Hollyoaks’, watching the teacher storyline with Chris Fountain and Ali Bastian.
"I remember being aware of that storyline. I didn’t watch it religiously, but I remember thinking, wow that’s like the first time such a daring storyline has been done on screen. So probably that.
"As for the storylines I’ve been involved in, I loved the train crash, that was brilliant. I’d loved all of our recent stuff as well, there’s been so many over the years, but I’d love to see the train crash, that was pretty dramatic."
